A mature amaltas in full bloom over an Islamabad garden

IslamabadEst. 1994Landscape / Irrigation / Interior

A garden is a promise
kept slowly.

Thirty years of landscape, irrigation and interior work across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. We plant for the tenth summer — not the photograph.

YEAR 00Cassia fistula · in bloom

Year 00The ground

Every garden here begins as a soil report.

Pothohar soil is heavy, alkaline and quick to compact. We test before we draw, because a plan the ground cannot keep is only a drawing.

Most gardens in this city fail in the first metre — underground, where nobody looks. Hardpan stops roots, water sits, and by the third summer the client is told the plants were unlucky. They were not.

Year 01The water

The part nobody photographs.

A drip line is the difference between a garden and a receipt. We design the irrigation before the planting, not after it.

Water at the root, on a schedule, in the amount each species asks for. Pressure-compensating emitters so the far end of the line gets what the near end does. Filtration sized for our silt. A controller your gardener can actually operate without ringing us.

  • Drip irrigation with pressure-compensating emitters
  • Pop-up and rotor lawn systems
  • Valve zoning and programmable controllers
  • Filtration and pressure regulation for silty supply
  • Tank, booster and rainwater feeds
  • Seasonal audits and emitter servicing

A correctly zoned drip garden typically runs on 40–60% of the water a hose does, and loses far less of it to the air.

Year 03The canopy

We choose trees the way other people choose furniture.

A tree is the only thing on site that gets better after we leave. These are the species we plant most here — picked for what they do in year ten, not on handover day.

Sculpture in winter when it is bare, scent in summer when it is not. Keep it off frost pockets and out of anywhere water sits.

A year, plotted.

We schedule planting so that something is always happening. If every species on a site peaks in May, eleven months of the year are a hedge.

Year 07The bloom

Year seven is when a garden
stops needing you.

The canopy closes. The beds fill in and stop being weeded. The irrigation runs at roughly half its first-year volume because the roots have gone looking for themselves. This is the year the drawings were for.

Year 10Inside

A window is part of the garden.

We finish interiors for the same clients, for one reason: the view is the most expensive material in the room.

A living room opening onto a planted garden through full-height glass

Floors, joinery, lighting and colour, all resolved against what is growing outside the glass. A room chosen from a catalogue and a garden chosen from a nursery rarely agree with each other.

Rooms resolved against what is growing outside the glass. We supervise to completion, so the last ten per cent — the part that decides whether it looks finished — actually gets done.

  • Space planning and layouts
  • Joinery, finishes and detailing
  • Lighting design and controls
  • Material and colour schemes
  • Furniture and fixture procurement
  • Site supervision to completion

The work

Sites we are still looking after.

Societies, private gardens and commercial grounds across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Most of these we still maintain, which is the only review that counts.

How it runs

Five stages, in this order.

The sequence is the method. Change the order and you get a garden that looks finished and then quietly stops.

  1. 01

    Survey

    1 visit · 3 – 5 days

We measure the site before we like it. Levels, sun path, existing trees, soil depth, and — the one everybody skips — the water pressure at your boundary.

  2. 02

    Design

    2 – 4 weeks

A plan you can hold a contractor to: planting schedule by species and size, irrigation layout with zone flows, hardscape sections, and a priced bill of quantities.

  3. 03

    Prepare

    1 – 3 weeks

Excavation, drainage falls, hardpan broken, soil amended and tested again. Most gardens in this city fail in the first metre, underground, where nobody looks.

  4. 04

    Plant & pipe

    2 – 6 weeks

Nursery-grade stock, staked and watered in. Drip goes down before the mulch, never after — retrofitting irrigation into a finished bed costs twice and works half.

  5. 05

    Tend

    12 months included

Twelve months of scheduled maintenance is part of the job, not an upsell. Pruning, feeding, emitter checks and a seasonal report on what is establishing and what is not.
